Why You Absolutely Can’t Miss The 2022 Equip Exposition

equip exposition Jul 27, 2022

It doesn’t happen very often, but every now and then, I will find something that I really enjoy or benefit from, and I just have to share it with you guys. The Equip Exposition is one of those things. This is the exposition/conference to go to if you are in the landscaping industry. The amount that you can learn at this event is absolutely wild. I have been in the business for a long time and learn something new every time I go.

You may have heard of the Equip Exposition before. It was formally called the GIE Expo. GIE stands for Green Industry Equipment, but the expo has morphed into something more than just a landscaping event. So to properly represent what you are going to see, they renamed it to just Equip Exposition.

You will see plenty of landscaping equipment and classes, but there will be plenty of goodies for other types of outdoor industries as well. If you want a quick overview, check out this video I did at the last one. You will not want to miss all of the awesome opportunities at the 2022 Equip Exposition this year. I will see you there!

Learn the Business From the Professionals

While equipment is the main focus of the exposition, you can also attend classes about various topics in the industry. This is going to let you learn way more about the business than you ever would online. You will get to be a part of a highly focused and industry-specific curriculum and be able to ask live questions to the experts.

You can view the full education schedule here, but these talks will teach you about things like hardscape, tree care, emerging technology, company culture, pool design, building a team, winter management systems, irrigation systems, estimating job cost, outdoor lighting, pruning, company mergers, pricing, and even supply chain. These are a few things I pulled from the above link, but there is so much more to learn about this industry and adjacent industries that you could also expand into.

Discover the Newest Products in the Industry

This one is fairly straightforward, but it is one of my favorite parts of the expo! Just walking around the giant exposition and seeing a piece of equipment that you have never seen before around every corner is pretty exciting.

A lot of these new tools have not made it into mainstream stores yet, so you may not even be able to buy them in your area, but you can normally get them from the company website. Although to do that, you have to know that the product exists, which is where the Equip Exposition comes in.

Of course, I do not know what new gadgets will be there just yet, but I know there will be something neat that I could incorporate into my business. Plus, when you are walking around the exposition, you can hold and get a demonstration of this new gear from a dedicated sales person at the booth. Those guys are always more than willing to tell you everything you want to know about the product and the best way to use it.

Back in the 60s, the first NASCAR pit crew that showed up with a pneumatic impact wrench had the fastest pit times to date and won the race. Others caught on and got their own later, but that crew still won the race. You could find the equivalent of the 1960s pit gun at the Equip Exposition. There are plenty of tools there that can speed up your work and therefore make you more money.

Meet the People Making Your Favorite Products

Like I said before, there is normally a salesperson or two at each booth, but that person could have also had a large part in developing the product itself. If they were not a part of that process, there is likely someone there who was.

Being able to talk to that person is a unique experience. You will get the clearest explanation possible for how to use that piece of equipment straight from the source. Plus, you can pick their brain and see what else they are up to or pitch your own idea.

If you buy products from a big company and have a problem, you usually have to contact someone within the company who has never used that product before to fix your problem. That can be extremely annoying. Although with smaller companies, you can quickly get straight to the source, and that is what you will see at the expo.

Try Out the Equipment for Yourself

One of the coolest things about the Equip Exposition is that you can put your hands on the equipment. Sure, I am talking about weed eaters and handheld gear, but also driveable gear. There is a large outdoor space dedicated to letting attendees drive different mowers, tractors, ATV’s and more.

Think of it as a test drive before you buy. Where else can you dig a hole with an excavator before you buy it? Even if you are not in the market, this is a pretty fun experience, and you can bet that I will be out there driving something until they kick me off.

Having the opportunity to hold something in your hand that you have thought about buying for your business is also valuable. Landscaping is built on handheld tools, and they are not all built the same. You may find your new favorite brand of shovel or a solid pair of work gloves that are better and more affordable than yours. You never know what you will find. You just have to go see it for yourself!

Your Tickets Are Half Price

I hope that the content before this has shown you just how fun and beneficial the Equip Exposition is going to be this year. Although I left out a major factor, your tickets are half price! If you buy your ticket with the code “KEITH50” you will get 50% off your order.

Your ticket price can vary depending on how many of the workshops you want to go to, but if you register before September 9th, the base ticket is $20. You can sign up for four workshops, which cost between $45 and $85 each, so those can add up in a hurry. Although with my code “KEITH50” you can get half off!

All and all, the Equip Expo is worth going to, even if you buy the entry ticket alone. If you buy a ticket to the workshops, you will get the most out of my coupon code. I would highly suggest going to this expo. I think it can help every landscaping business out a ton, and I still go to it every year, and I am still learning new things.

Just do not forget to use my coupon code KEITH50 for 50% off!
